ARTUS Solutions, localized repair of a chip in a Techlam porcelain countertop.
This project involved a targeted repair of a Techlam Marvel Gold porcelain countertop, which had suffered chipping along the edge. This type of large-format, marble-effect surface requires technical solutions that respect both its functionality and the overall appearance of the piece.
Type of damage and procedure applied
The damage consisted of visible material loss on the edge, without structural impact. A localized repair was applied using:
Technical cleaning of the affected area.
Application of a specific two-component material for porcelain tiles, prepared by manual mixing to approximate the base color.
Manual finishing to soften the contour and achieve the most discreet visual integration possible.
The aim of this type of intervention is to make the damage invisible as much as the material and the environment allow, without resorting to repainting or invasive solutions. The repair restores the surface's functional and aesthetic continuity precisely and sustainably.
Repair instead of replacing
Repairing a chip avoids the complete replacement of the countertop, which means:
Reduction of waste and unnecessary transport.
Preservation of the design already integrated into the space.
Lower environmental impact compared to the manufacture of new materials.
Outcome and perception
The repair is barely noticeable under normal use. Although any technical intervention leaves a minimal trace, the result blends seamlessly into the overall design. The client particularly appreciated the visual discretion, speed, and responsible approach.
“You don’t notice it unless you look for it. And knowing that nothing had to be dismantled or thrown away seems the most sensible thing to me.”
